Upcoming Events
At Wíyouŋkihipi, we are dedicated to sharing the richness of Dakota culture and storytelling through immersive events and workshops. Mark your calendars for these upcoming opportunities to connect, learn, and celebrate.
Battle Creek Artists in Residence
Some of the events are part of the Marlena Myles and Tanaǧidaŋ To Wiŋ (Blue Hummingbird Woman/Tara Perron) residency in the Minnesota Parks Artist-in-Residence (MNPAiR) program, a pilot initiative launched in partnership with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Parks and Trails Division, the Metropolitan Council Metropolitan Regional Parks, the Greater Minnesota Regional Parks and Trails Commission, and Forecast Public Art. This program embeds artists into parks across Minnesota to explore themes of community and belonging through creative collaboration.
At Battle Creek Park, in partnership with Ramsey County Parks & Recreation, Marlena and Tara will host events throughout the year, combining contemporary Indigenous artistry with the Dakota seasonal way of life, guided by the Four Winds. As part of a nine-artist cohort, they will work together to develop ideas that reimagine public spaces and deepen community connections. Look for events marked MN Pair to experience the transformative potential of this residency and its commitment to fostering cultural and communal belonging.
