About the poet:

Thomas Draskovic: Hau mitakuyepi, Lakotiya Chetan Ohitika he miye, nahan Wasicueya Thomas Draskovic emaciyapi. Hello my relatives, in the Lakota language I am Brave Hawk and in English they call me Thomas. I am Hunkphapa Lakota and Wahpe Khute Dakota and am enrolled in the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe. I am a visual artists that loves to work with mixed media in my creations and am also a lyricist, lead singer, guitarist in the band Shadows in Stereo. I started my artistic journey in poetry and spoken word, which has led me to music and acting both on stage and on local short film projects. All of my work reflects my own life experiences and my journey towards true self-expression. I am grateful for having the opportunity to contribute to an ever-growing movement of Indigenous artists, we need to be seen and each of our voices need to be heard. I create for us and not for those who would seek to tear us apart. If we are all related, then let's make change together fam.
